MEET OUR TEAM
MARK T. GOULAS, MDMark Goulas, M.D. was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He earned a Bachelor of Science at Michigan State University. He then pursued his dream of becoming a physician and graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit in 2000. Dr. Goulas stayed in Michigan to complete his internship at Oakwood Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed his Ophthalmology training at Texas Tech University located in Lubbock, Texas, where he developed strong clinical and surgical skills. He has co-authored several research projects, ranging from lasers used in Glaucoma to new surgical techniques used in pediatrics. Dr. Goulas joined a large Ophthalmology practice in Florence, SC in 2004 where he refined his talents as a physician and a surgeon. Dr. Goulas founded Low Country Eye Associates in Bluffton, SC in December 2005 and Goulas Eye in 2013. Dr. Goulas’ goal is to provide unparalleled surgical eye care in the Bluffton Hilton Head area, including cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Goulas has performed over 6,000 cataract and refractive surgeries in his career, including state of the art cataract removal/lens implantation and LASIK procedures. Dr. Goulas is also an expert at diagnosing and treating glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and many other ocular diseases.
JAMES G. LIMBERT, MDGoulas Eye welcomes James G. Limbert, MD to our team serving our patients as a general ophthalmologist, focusing mainly on comprehensive examinations, including refractions, treating patients with glaucoma, emergent eye issues, maintaining eye health for our patients with diabetes, as well as other eye health concerns. Dr. Limbert recently relocated from Ohio with his wife, Mary Ann, where he managed a solo practice performing cataract and corneal surgeries and general ophthalmic exams for 37 years.
Dr. Limbert’s education includes attending University of Dayton for Pre-Med, and then obtaining his medical degree from Ohio State University. He then interned at Mount Carmel Hospital in Columbus as a resident for the Dept of Ophthalmology University Hospitals Case Western University.
During his career, Dr. Limbert has served as Flight Surgeon USAR, as Chairman of Professional Relations Committee at Columbus Medical Academy, Director of EENT Mt. Carmel East Hospital Dept of Surgery and as Clinical Assistant Professor for Ohio State University Dept of Ophthalmology, among other distinguishing and contributory positions relating to ophthalmology.
REBECCA GIANNIOTISOFFICE MANAGER
Rebecca has about 20 years of management experience combined starting with 13 years at Radiological Associates of Sacramento. She was the manager over billing and was the in house auditor of insurance and patient accounts. Then she was recruited by the radiology department of UC Davis Medical Center as a manager over the school of medicine and the hospital, including the coding unit. In this position her scope of duties included Plain X-ray, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, CT, MRI, and MRA. After retiring in 2012 Rebecca relocated to South Carolina to be closer to family.
BRANDY QUEENBOARD CERTIFIED OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN AND SURGICAL COORDINATOR
Brandy was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She moved to Bluffton in 2006 to attend college at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. She joined the Goulas Eye team in 2014 as a scribe to Dr. Goulas. Brandy is the Clinic Supervisor and Surgical Coordinator and is a board-certified Ophthalmology Technician.
BARBARA BROWNREFERRAL SPECIALIST / PATIENT CARE COORDINATOR
Barbara was born and raised in New York. Barbara has worked in the medical field for 9.5 years in which she specialized as an Optometric Tech. Since joining our practice in 2013 she has become the referral specialist for both our established and new patients. She is responsible for all contact lens orders and fittings.
TERI PROFFITTPATIENT CARE SUPERVISOR
Teri was born and raised in Savannah GA. She attended Saint Vincent’s Academy and has worked in the medical field for 20 plus years specializing in patient care.
ALLY CRITESPATIENT CARE COORDINATOR
Originally from Upstate New York she relocated to Savannah, GA three years ago. She is currently studying Psychology at Georgia Southern University.
BRANDI THOMPSONPATIENT CARE COORDINATOR
Currently living in South Carolina for 15 years. She attended the University of South Carolina pursuing her AA degree in Elementary Education. Switched to a medical career in 2010. Per Brandi “I was honored when asked to become a Goulas Eye team member in 2020 and look forward to being here for a long time”.
MELADIE INGRAMTECHNICIAN / PHYSICIAN’S ASSISTANT
Meladie was born and raised in Bluffton, SC. A true local. She has worked in the medical field for 2 years and is a Board-Certified Scribe. She holds a degree in Child Development from the Center for Child Care Development.
JAMIE HOOKSSCRIBE/DRS ASSISTANT
Born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. Nine years as an Army Veteran serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Arizona State University. Recently moved to Savannah for premed.
