MEET OUR TEAM
MARK T. GOULAS, MDMark Goulas, M.D. was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He earned a Bachelor of Science at Michigan State University. He then pursued his dream of becoming a physician and graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit in 2000. Dr. Goulas stayed in Michigan to complete his internship at Oakwood Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed his Ophthalmology training at Texas Tech University located in Lubbock, Texas, where he developed strong clinical and surgical skills. He has co-authored several research projects, ranging from lasers used in Glaucoma to new surgical techniques used in pediatrics. Dr. Goulas joined a large Ophthalmology practice in Florence, SC in 2004 where he refined his talents as a physician and a surgeon. Dr. Goulas founded Low Country Eye Associates in Bluffton, SC in December 2005 and Goulas Eye in 2013. Dr. Goulas’ goal is to provide unparalleled surgical eye care in the Bluffton Hilton Head area, including cataract and refractive surgery. Dr. Goulas has performed over 6,000 cataract and refractive surgeries in his career, including state of the art cataract removal/lens implantation and LASIK procedures. Dr. Goulas is also an expert at diagnosing and treating glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and many other ocular diseases.
JAMES G. LIMBERT, MDGoulas Eye welcomes James G. Limbert, MD to our team serving our patients as a general ophthalmologist, focusing mainly on comprehensive examinations, including refractions, treating patients with glaucoma, emergent eye issues, maintaining eye health for our patients with diabetes, as well as other eye health concerns. Dr. Limbert recently relocated from Ohio with his wife, Mary Ann, where he managed a solo practice performing cataract and corneal surgeries and general ophthalmic exams for 37 years.
Dr. Limbert’s education includes attending University of Dayton for Pre-Med, and then obtaining his medical degree from Ohio State University. He then interned at Mount Carmel Hospital in Columbus as a resident for the Dept of Ophthalmology University Hospitals Case Western University.
During his career, Dr. Limbert has served as Flight Surgeon USAR, as Chairman of Professional Relations Committee at Columbus Medical Academy, Director of EENT Mt. Carmel East Hospital Dept of Surgery and as Clinical Assistant Professor for Ohio State University Dept of Ophthalmology, among other distinguishing and contributory positions relating to ophthalmology.
JOSEPH L. NEMETH III, ODDr. Nemeth was born in Canton, Ohio, home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio for his undergraduate work. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree in Chicago, Illinois from the Illinois College of Optometry. He was in practice for 27 years in Ohio with experience in difficult contact lens fits, children’s vision and general optometry. He has experience in pre and post-op cataract surgery as well as co-management of Lasik patients. In Ohio, he had practiced in an Ophthalmology clinic with 3 MD’s and another optometrist as well as having his own optometry clinic. He is a member of the America Optometric Association and the South Carolina Optometric Association. He moved to Bluffton, South Carolina in 2014 with his wife, Fran. He enjoys playing golf as well as guitar and piano in his spare time. He has a son and a daughter who live in California.
BARBARA BROWNFRONT DESK
A native New Yorker, Barbara moved to the Bluffton area about 2 years ago. She worked as an optometric technician for 3 years with a practice in southeastern Pennsylvania before relocating to the area. Since joining the staff in August of 2013 she has become an asset to the front desk and assists our patients in any way possible.
JENNI CHAPMANHEAD OF FRONT DESK
Jenni Chapman was raised in Ohio but has lived in the area for about 10 years. She attended the University of South Carolina Beaufort right here in Bluffton, and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor Degree in Human Services. Since joining the Goulas team in 2010 she has learned many aspects of ophthalmology and strives to learn more about the field.
KIM ROBERTSHEAD TECHNICIAN
Kim Roberts is from Chattanooga Tennessee where she attended Chattanooga State Community College. She moved to the area about 4 years ago to be close to family. Kim is a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) and also has a certification as a medical transcriptionist. She has been working in the ophthalmology field for over 21 years and has been with the Goulas team since 2010. Currently, Kim is our Head Technician and also one of the surgery coordinators.
LITSA GOULASRECALL COORDINATOR
A native to Greece, Litsa has lived here in the US for about 46 years raising her three children. She worked at the Eyesite of Ridgeland as the Head of the Front Desk for 5 years before transitioning into Goulas Eye as the Recall Coordinator.
REBECCA GIANNIOTISOFFICE MANAGER
Rebecca has about 20 years of management experience combined starting with 13 years at Radiological Associates of Sacramento. She was the manager over billing and was the in house auditor of insurance and patient accounts. Then she was recruited by the radiology department of UC Davis Medical Center as a manager over the school of medicine and the hospital, including the coding unit. In this position her scope of duties included Plain X-ray, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, CT, MRI, and MRA. After retiring in 2012 Rebecca relocated to South Carolina to be closer to family.
BRANDY QUEENTECHNICIAN AND SURGICAL COORDINATOR
Brandy was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She moved to Bluffton in 2006 to attend college at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. She joined the Goulas Eye team in 2014 as an Ophthalmic technician and assists Dr. Goulas in the medical history and documentation of procedures as his scribe where she can help in the care of our valued patients.
