James Limbert, MD

Thirty-seven years in practice, now focused on comprehensive exams, refractions, and getting patients with urgent eye problems seen quickly.

Dr. James G. Limbert serves our patients as a general ophthalmologist, focusing on comprehensive examinations, including refractions, treating glaucoma, seeing patients with urgent eye problems, maintaining eye health for patients with diabetes, and a wide range of other eye health concerns.

He brings thirty-seven years of practice to the Lowcountry, having recently relocated from Ohio with his wife, Mary Ann. In Ohio he ran a solo practice performing cataract and corneal surgery alongside general ophthalmic examinations.

Dr. Limbert attended the University of Dayton for pre-medical studies before earning his medical degree from Ohio State University. He interned at Mount Carmel Hospital in Columbus and completed his residency in the Department of Ophthalmology at University Hospitals, Case Western Reserve University.

Over his career he has served as Flight Surgeon in the United States Army Reserve, as Chairman of the Professional Relations Committee at the Columbus Medical Academy, as Director of EENT in the Department of Surgery at Mount Carmel East Hospital, and as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Ohio State University Department of Ophthalmology, among other roles.
